Description
"At last, I see all Goddesses."
Happy birthday to me.
You might've heard already, but this is my favorite song in the world. I've been in love with it for almost 7 years now... I've always wanted to do it, but I never could. I didn't have the right equipment, or the lyrics didn't flow right, or I didn't know the right mixer, or I didn't like the way my voice sounded with it... There was always something.
And now, I'm finally in a place where I can sing this song with all my heart. And that makes me happier than I can put in words. It's not often that you can see actual, tangible improvement— especially improvement in yourself! So this was... really really amazing to finally do.
That's not to say this song wasn't a challenge! It's 13 minutes and 10 vocal tracks. Separated for overlap, that came out to 18 tracks and like, 100 minutes of vocals? And those are the final numbers— y'know, like the takes I ended up using. I averaged around 4-5 takes per line, so I actually recorded probably 500ish minutes of vocals for this song, over the course of 5 days. I actually had to record the mains twice— I recorded them and found out the project file had corrupted because I closed the program while it was still saving (it was muscle memory; im not used to it taking that long to save, since my projects are usually way smaller) so I had to redo them.
Mixing took a lot of work too, but my mixer was effin' awesome. She got it done waaaay faster than I thought it'd take, and she was super patient and willing to work with me, and it wouldn't have come out this amazing without her help! Thank you Leanna!
But I can't forget how awesome the harmony guide was! After she did so well with 'ring your bell', I asked Lili if she could make one for this song and she definitely delivered! You have no idea man— the night I got the guide back, I was listening to it on repeat for hours, just... loving every minute of it.
And the artwork! Thanks so much to funoko-san for letting me use it in this video! I found their piece back in 2013, I think, back when the show was still airing, and I absolutely loved it. I knew if I ever sang this song, that I'd want to use it as the video. And thanks to the help of my friend Green Moriyama-sensei, I was able to make that happen! I met Green a few years ago— funny story actually, we met by writing Nisekoi fics, and I found out that he was a big contributor to the KamiNomi wiki! If I remember right, he literally wrote the article on this song. And now, he helped me make this happen! I really can't say thank you enough, to everyone involved who helped make this dream of mine, a reality!
And KamiNomi... I could talk about my love for it all day. It was one of my first anime, and one I still love so much. Seriously, it holds up great. The animation is still some of my favorite, and the artstyle is just. fantastic. All the voice acting is top-notch, and I still listen to the show's soundtrack: OST, OPs, EDs, character songs, and all. To be able to show my love for it, after all these years, in such an amazing way is... I really can't explain how much that means to me.
Thank you all for listening all these years. And thank you for reading! I know a lot of people don't read video descriptions anymore, but it's always been nice to pour my love out for a show here, while the video uploads. This one took like, 3 hours, so I had plenty of time to uh. organize my thoughts...
Anywho.
Thanks everyone. I'll see you all soon.
'Til then!
