The Snow Mountains Spirits is created by Liu Wenjin to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Long March undertaken by the Red Army. It is a music poem to descript the Long March soldiers of the Red Army, an ode to remember the revolutionary martyrs, and a carved picture for the epic revolutionary struggle process. The composer caught the vivid musical images of the soldiers on the Monument to the People's Heroes.

Liu Wenjin was a well-known contemporary Chinese composer and conductor. He had served as the Director and Artistic Director of China National Traditional Orchestra, President and Artistic Consultant of China National Opera & Dance Drama Theater and so on. Over half a century, Liu Wenjin had created so many national music woks and made great contributions to the national music world.
