Georg Philipp Telemann (1681-1767) wrote "Twelve Fantasias" for violin without bass in 1735.
This piece speaks to me of a deep and hidden pain, a sadness that permeates the entire being despite maintaining a positive demeanor.
Having been a child prodigy in many instruments Telemann was forced to abandon music many times, as his family "disapproved". His love of music and composition led him continue no matter what.
