Description
Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers spent nearly all of the second half of 2002 on the road, whether touring in anticipation of or promoting the October release of the album 'The Last DJ.' Before the album's release, the band played approximately 3 songs from the album in their set. After the release, the band included about 6 or more of the songs in the set.
Intermixed with songs from the new album were hits and album tracks that hadn't been played in decades.
One of those rarely-played songs was the cover of The Byrds' "I'll Feel A Whole Lot Better," which TP recorded for his solo album 'Full Moon Fever' in 1989. The song was frequently played on the 1989-1990 'Strange Behaviour' tour, but it wasn't played again until 1997 (when Roger McGuinn joined the band at The Fillmore), and then again on this leg of the 'Last DJ' tour. It was, interestingly, played one more time in concert in 2008.
Enjoy the video! And special thanks to whomever taped it!
