Flamenco Biënnale Part 1 Online Edition January/February 2021: Pablo Martín Caminero Trio perform La Habana a Oscuras by Gerardo Núñez. Live performances 25 November at Bimhuis Amsterdam and 28 November at LantarenVenster Rotterdam.

A refreshing mix of jazz, classical and flamenco! Pablo Martín Caminero, the spectacular and versatile bass player from Madrid’s jazz-flamenco scene, is a musical jack-of-all-trades, playing across all genres, from classical music to jazz to flamenco. In his latest project Al Toque, he builds some solid bridges between jazz and flamenco. The album – which will be presented for the first time at our festival – is a firm jazz salute to the flamenco guitar.

With his trio, Caminero brings his own compositions as well as flamenco guitar classics arranged for piano, bass and drums – a typical jazz line-up, with a touch of classical piano. Al Toque is full of promise, with pieces by string wizards like Sabicas, Manolo Sanlúcar, Moraíto Chico, Vicente Amigo, Cañizares, Rafael Riqueni and of course Paco de Lucía. A world premiere at Bimhuis.
