Description
“Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!” was recorded by Frank Sinatra with orchestra arranged and conducted by Axel Stordahl along with the B. Swanson Quartet on Nov 5, 1950 at Columbia Records Studio, NYC. It was soon released as a single on 10” 78 RPM shellac and 7” 45 RPM Vinyl. Enjoy my DES [Digitally Extracted STEREO] of this swingin’ Christmas standard.
Music composed by Jule Styne. Lyrics by Sammy Cahn. Published in 1945
About the original MONO recording:
This track is from the 1994 digital mastering for the CD “Christmas Songs by Sinatra”. It was a very good transfer to digital. I did not have to alter any EQ, amplitude or dynamics during the stereo conversion. It was perfect right out of the can.
About my DES STEREO mix:
For the vocals, all I did was add a nice tight and crisp stereo reverb to give continuity to the stereo image. The orchestra received a surround-sound effect. I tried my best to separate the reeds from the brass for a better stereo experience. On the Drums, I panned them right and reverbed into the left. RipX failed to isolate the Bass, since it was arranged in the upper register and wasn't interpreted as Bass. [RipX isolated subsonic rumble as the Bass, which I simply discarded]. Since the Bass is not directional, I just let it lie wherever it landed. It sounds fine through my subwoofer.
Technical Information:
I used RipX Deep Remix to isolate the Vocal, Orchestra and Drums into 3 separate tracks. Adobe Audition 2020 was used for Dynamic Range recovery, Reverb, Delay, EQ, and final mixdown. Sonic Studio’s Amarra Luxe Sound Processor was used for post EQ and upsampling. NERO 2019 Platinum used to generate the final video.
