The Fritz Hirsch Operetta was the first professional operetta company in the Netherlands. Often a company called Jewish or even an emigrant company. That is not correct. Fritz Hirsch was a jew, but that did not made it a Jewish operetta company. And the immigrants came later in this company. It all started in 1925, when Fritz Hirsch was first performed in the Netherlands. He came to the company of Gustav Charlé from Berlin at the invitation of Hugh Helm, impressario of the Hague Princesse Schouwburg. A year later the group under the name Fritz Hirsch Operetta came back to The Hague. As the Netherlands had no operette tradition and therefore no major opera company, Fritz Hirsch was more than welcome. Hirsch was two years active in the Netherlands and in Berlin, until he settled in 1928 in The Hague. The Fritz Hirsch Operetta led by Fritz Hirsch and Hugo Helm had her permanent accommodations in the Princess Theater.
The success story of Fritz Hirsch began with the Operetta "Das Dreimäderlhaus". This operetta was all that the Dutch public wanted: romance, love and light music.
When the Fritz Hirsch operetta in 1939 celebrate its fourteenth anniversary, Fritz Hirsch had refined the taste of the Dutch public as follows: a romantic operetta with an appealing title. These titles were also all German, because all operettas were sung in German and the members of the ensemble came mainly from Germany and the countries of the former Danube monarchy. The Fritz Hirsch operetta brought rapidly new productions and performed across the country . After ten years the company had staged 52 productions, sometimes they played more than 100 performances. Through his good relations with Berlin and Vienna could Hirsch bring not only the latest operettas to the Netherlands, but also real opera stars such as Richard Tauber, who between 1929 and 1933 was a regular guest in the Fritz Hirsch operetta

Sadly Fritz Hirsch, his wife, and his two sons, died in German concentration camps.
