Description
“Funiculi, Funicula” - Luigi Danza, featuring Eric Trudel on piano
My training and main study during and since college has been classical voice, so I thought this little upbeat Neapolitan song was a great fit for the #SongsFromHome Series. The first time I heard this song was on one of The Three Tenors CDs, and, like everything Domingo, Corelli, and Pavarotti sing, it became an instant favorite of mine. This is a song of escaping to a happier place, where you cannot be dragged down by your sufferings. I think that message of a place that we feel peace is harder and harder to find but something I know we’re all needing and searching for.
A special thank you to the incomparable Eric Trudel for the amazing assist on piano! Always a pleasure to make music with him and one of the people that has influenced and taught me the most about countless things, but more specifically about singing, music, and our job as artists.
If you like this video, please subscribe to my channel as I will be posting a video like this every other week as part of my #SongsFromHome series until we get through these tough times. Comment songs you would like to hear me sing (pop, soul, musical theater, classical), and I may just pick your tune for my next video! Note for those that have requested songs: after next week's video, I'll be working on some of your requests, so stay tuned!
I hope this video brings you as much joy as it did me in making it, and I wish you nothing but good health and better days ahead.
