Description
Guajira - song music genre, known in Cuba since the beginning of the 20th century. Since the 1930s, Guajira has been perfected and popularized by the singer and guitarist Guillermo Portabales, whose elegant style was known as Guajira-son. Although he was called Guajiro, the style of his songs was nothing more than the Cuban style of Son and Bolero-Son. Famous Guajira-son performers were Celina Gonzalez, Coralia Fernandez. One of the most famous songs in the Guajira-son style is Guantanamera, which gained international popularity in the 1960s. Here are five excerpts from the book" Auhentic Bongo Rhythms " by Bob Evans.
Recorded on "Free Tube Studio" by Mikhail Nikolaev.
