Every time I am about to release a new video of Sérgio Assad's studies written for me, I spend time thinking about a brief paragraph to accompany my performances.
My notes seek to highlight certain aspects of Sérgio's creative process and to bring forth elements of his guitar writing that set him apart from other composers for the instrument.
However, the magnitude of Guinguiana is such that words are not necessary. I am deeply touched by this masterpiece and also for the heartfelt words of appreciation by maestro Guinga, whose compositional style was Sergio's inspiration in this work.
