Description
Prior to March 2017, I added the lyrics and chords to my videos using YouTube annotations. However, YouTube decided to make annotations obsolete at that time as they did not work on mobile phones, so since then I have been adding them using my own video editor app.
Consequently, if you are watching a video uploaded before 2017, and the video is on a mobile phone, (cell phone), annotations are not available.
If you are watching on any other device, click on the cogwheel icon at the bottom right of the screen and turn on the annotations.
If you are not able to get the annotations, send me your email address and I will let you have the file from my own collection.
Ilkla Moor Baht'at is a traditional Yorkshire song (sung in a West Riding dialect) and means Ilkley Moor without your hat. Moorlands are areas prone to sudden dramatic changes in weather and temperature, and as most of your body heat is lost through your head, it is inadvisable to go onto moorland without some sort of head cover for fear of a sudden drop in temperature and mist or rain. This is a salutary tale of the possible consequences of going baht'at.
I went to college in Leeds, not too far from Ilkley Moor. On occasions my team played hockey against a select eleven from Ilkley known as 'The Wharfdale Rats'. After the match we would have a light buffet at their clubhouse and imbibe of some liquid refreshment and then on the return journey in our mini-bus would no doubt give a raucous rendition of this song in true student fashion.
