Description
Our koto ensemble group played at the UW cherry blossom viewing and cherry blossom run in Seattle. My aunt Kathy and I play this beautiful song called Haru no Umi which means spring sea. It was composed by Michio Miyagi in the year 1929. It is Miyagi's best known and most famous piece for the koto and Shakuhachi instruments. This song is perfect for this time of year. It has two different parts a koto part and a flute part. Usually the flute part is played on a shakuhachi Japanese bamboo flute but since we do not have a shakuhachi player we used the western flute instead hope you enjoy this wonderful sounding piece.
