Description
The other day, Ching-en and Mary Anne came up with the idea of sharing their favorite "hit songs" about dreams since the journey in pursuit of one’s dreams can be many things - exciting, challenging, fun, interesting, frustrating, fulfilling and so much more. Yet, through all the ups and downs, music amplifies the good times and is a steadfast companion that helps carry us through difficult times. In the coming weeks, our hosts will talk about the songs they love and why it resonates with them so much.
For the first three episodes, Ching-en wanted to give a glimpse to Taiwanese society and showcase well-known "dream songs" that resonate with the Taiwanese people's collective past and memories. For the very first song, Ching-en picked Michelle Pan's (潘越雲) early work "Dreams of Youth" to highlight the life struggles and aspirations of many Taiwanese women in the ‘80s and ‘90s. In this episode, we learn what it was like for Taiwanese women during that time and better understand the different pressures they had to face.
