Ancient Armor (previously known as Golden Armor) is a special progression item that gives the player a full armor protection bar instead of the standard segmented one. It doesn't break or lose quality if used in combat, and is a permanent item that lasts forever.

The Ancient Armor can be found deep in the cultist cave, a cave by a lake near the south-western base of the mountain or the large lake on the eastern side of the mountain.
Entrances are completely unique effect compared to the damage-nullifying effects of eg. Tech Armor. While worn, damage dealt by Demons will be significantly reduced (70%), trivializing encounters with them even if multiple of them are present. The Ancient armor provides 30% damage resistance against cannibals and other mutants When initially equipped, ancient armor will remove any armor that the player is currently wearing and place it back into their inventory, pieces of armor that have sustained damage however, will be destroyed.

The armor is also used as a "key" to open the gate leading into the magma caverns within the eastern bunker, which could have lore implications in future updates. It will be automatically equipped when the gate is interacted with if it is in the player's inventory. For the door to open, the armor must be coated in Solafite, using a structure that can be built from the blueprint found in the same bunker as the gate itself.
