Description
Hey everyone! In today's lesson, I'm going to show you how to play "I Can See Clearly Now" by Johnny Nash. For the most part it's just some basic chords and a basic strumming pattern. The bridge does contain a couple of barre chords but I have a simplified way to do that, so if you're a beginner learning this song shouldn't be impossible.

The lesson begins with the chord shapes and some switching tips. We practice switching between all the chords needed for the verse and the chorus (D, G, A, C) and then we play through the verse and chorus using downstrokes only just so we can get all the chords in the right order and make everything make sense rhythmically.
After that, we take a look at the strumming pattern which is the most common strumming pattern ever. I've gone over it in a separate video here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBZA1DLHRM0), but we also take a moment to work it out in this tutorial. We practice the first half and then the second half, we count it out and then we put it all together.
After that, we take a look at the bridge, and this is where we're going to need some barre chords (F, G and C#m/G#). I show you the intermediate barre chord version and then I show you how to simplify it, so that anybody can play it (and we also have to simplify the strumming a bit).
Everything is laid out in the lesson so you'll have a chance to play along with the simple version and the intermediate version of the bridge.
Finally, we put the whole thing together. The verse, chorus bridge, we work through all the transitions, everything it takes to actually play through the entire song.
Enjoy and I'll see you next time!
