An upbeat uplifting disco anthem – ‘I Will Survive’ is a song by a renowned American singer , Grammy Award winner , best known for the Disco era hits - ‘Gloria Gaynor. Released in 1978 , it was the 2nd single from her 6th Album – Love Tracks. It was written and produced by Freddie Perren and Dino Fekaris under the label – Polydor Records.
A Disco-Pop-Soul no., it is regarded as the anthem of female empowerment. The song received immediate success and a heavy airplay in 1979. It spent 3 non-consecutive weeks at no. 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at top on the UK Singles Chart and the Irish Singles Chart. It was certified Platinum by the RIAA. It won Best Recording at the 22nd Annual Grammy Awards , received a nomination for Record of the year and the best female Pop Vocal performance. In 2023 , Billboard ranked it among the 500 Best Pop song of all time.
