This song was written by Queen Kapi'olani in loving memory of her beloved husband: King Kaläkaua. Kaläkaua was the one that made hula legal again in Hawaii. It was illegal before because it was thought to be pagan by the Christians so they banned it from Hawaii. Also, I realize now that I put a lot of pictures of Lili'uokalani. E kala mai, that was my bad.
