Description

This video contains Isaiah 49:1-4 set to epic music using Suno (v4), an AI program. An exciting way to take in God's word! I took the lyrics straight from the World English Bible (WEB)*, the world's only modern English Bible translation that's completely free of copyright.

In this passage, we have the beginning of a new section in the book of Isaiah, which focuses less on idolatry and the end of the Babylonian captivity (as Isaiah 40-48 did), and more on the coming of the Messiah many centuries later. Indeed, Jesus Christ would be named from before His birth (Matthew 1:21). During His ministry, His words would often "pierce" people's consciences and expose their sins (e.g. Matthew 23:13). He was a perfect Israelite, so He represented Israel in the best possible way (Hosea 11:1; cf. Matthew 2:15) . Sometime, He would briefly seem discouraged because of the lack of response from most Jews to His message (e.g. Matthew 17:17), but He would comfort Himself by remembering that He was accomplishing God's will and would be rewarded (Hebrews 12:2).

Lyrics:
Isaiah 49:1-4 (WEB, Updated)
1 Listen, islands, to me.
Listen, you peoples, from afar:
the LORD has called me from the womb;
from the inside of my mother, he has mentioned my name.
2 He has made my mouth like a sharp sword.
He has hidden me in the shadow of his hand.
He has made me a polished shaft.
He has kept me close in his quiver.
3 He said to me, β€œYou are my servant,
Israel, in whom I will be glorified.”
4 But I said, β€œI have labored in vain.
I have spent my strength in vain for nothing;
yet surely the justice due to me is with the LORD,
and my reward with my God.”

*More specifically, I used the World English Bible (Updated), which differs from the original World English Bible only in that it replaces the name of God (Yahweh) with "the LORD", just like most other English Bible translations.
