The Israeli military launched rare airstrikes in the heart of Damascus, hitting the Syrian defence ministry’s headquarters after days of sectarian clashes in the southern Syrian city of Sweida.

The explosion causes the camera to shake before the presenter quickly takes shelter. A large explosion erupts behind her with smoke bellowing.

Israel's attack came hours after a drone strike on the same building. Syrian state media reported at least 13 people wounded. Another strike hit near the presidential palace in the hills outside of Damascus.
