Description
‘It’s a long way to Tipperary’ is a British patriotic song originally written in 1912 by Jack Judge and Harry Williams. It tells of a soldier in London feeling longing for his home and familiarity. The song would have a monumental increase in popularity during the First World War.
Many recordings and performances of the song would appear all across the the British Empire, and around the world, with versions being made by the Americans, French, among others. Tipperary would become synonymous with ‘home’ in a way for many soldiers from all different places.
Recording done by John McCormack in 1914, I don’t own the music in any way.
