Description
James Church began studying folk-blues guitar as an nine-year-old with Nigel Foote at the Mitchell Conservatorium of Music in Bathurst, NSW. An outstanding student, James learnt all the fingerpicking tunes that Nigel teaches, and then immersed himself in slide guitar, playing Dobro. James's influences include Chris Smither, Nickel Creek, Crooked Still, Russ Barenberg and Jerry Douglas. One cannot help notice James's spellbinding touch and sense of peace as he draws you into his shining web of steel. Shown here in 2008, playing Donal Lunny's beautiful tune, 'Tribute to Peador O'Donnell', while visiting the Foote family in the Blue Mountains, NSW Australia. Filmed by Nigel Foote for the Folksinger Archive. (www.folksinger.com.au)
