Description

Tracks 4 & 5 from his second solo album “Blow by Blow" released in 1975 copyright Epic Records. It was recorded at AIR Studios in London, which was a studio formed by Sir George Martin and his business partner. Jeff shifted gears again with this album, which he decided would be strictly instrumental. He invited his bandmate Max Middleton to join the project with a new rhythm section. Before recording it, the Rolling Stones invited him to "audition" and he spent a day jamming blues songs with them. In the end, he decided that they wouldn't be compatible, not a surprise really, since Jeff loved to stretch the boundaries as he would prove with this album. The Stones wanted to continue to try and find common ground with him but he had already scheduled Sir George Martin to produce this album and didn't want to risk losing such a great producer by having to reschedule, so he bailed on them. His friend Stevie Wonder gave him two songs for the album, "Cause We've Ended as Lovers" and "Thelonius." He would later release the first on his own album but "Thelonius" only appeared here. It's a classic for the ages and in my opinion, the best jazz/rock fusion album with guitar as the lead instrument. It's just beyond compare. It received excellent reviews and reached No. 4 on the Billboard chart, achieving Gold status and later Platinum in the U.S. in 1986. Recorded from the original vinyl. Written by Jeff Beck, Max Middleton, Richard Bailey & Phil Chen/Jeff Beck & Max Middleton and produced by Sir George Martin. RIP Sir George Martin, Phil Chen & Jeff Beck. Featuring:

Special Guests:
Max Middleton - Keyboards

Stevie Wonder - Clavinet on "Thelonius"
