Description
Released on December 16, 2013, When We Die was basically the proto-album of what would become Dead Indian's "When We Live", released less than two months later in February 2014. When We Die features (most) of those songs, though with only Jesse himself playing on the tracks. Unlike some of his early bedroom era albums, the album is ONLY Jesse singing and his guitar. This allows the album to standout from some of his early albums, and shines as he does the same thing here that would later capture the hearts of over a million fans.
The album was recorded by Jesse from 11 P.M. (on the 15th) to 1 A.M., and uploaded quickly on the 16th. He said that the songs were "bouncing around" in his head for a while, and just needed to get them out. He had already planned for them to be part of Dead Indian's next album as well, though one song (How Long) would NOT make the album, remaining exclusive to this album.
A lot of people assume Jesse was nearly entirely unknown during his Jeh-sea days, though this wouldn't be very true. Dead Indian had gained a bit of momentum before, and Jesse's solo releases were attracting a few fans on Reddit. However, this was by far his most popular release of that era. Posting on /r/music, the post gained 181 upvotes (a decent amount for 2013 Reddit), and tons of comments praising the album. One commenter even dropped a review for the album, which will be linked below. It might just be the first review of Jesse's music ever.
