Jodie Sands is the stage name for South Philadelphia singer, Eleanor DiSipio. This song, backed with "Everybody Needs Somebody," was her very first recording in 1955. The label, Teen Records, was owned by Bernie Lowe (future co-owner of the Cameo/Parkway empire), Bob Horn (the original host of Bandstand before Dick Clark), and Nat Segal. "Love Me Always" was originally recorded by Los Angeles R&B group, Arthur Lee Maye & The Crowns. Jodie Sands would have one more release on Teen records before moving to Chancellor records where she would have the biggest hit of her career, 1957's "With All My Heart." Around the same time, Bernie Lowe re-released "Love Me Always" b/w "Everybody Needs Somebody" on his one of BERNLO label most likely to cash in on her hit. She recorded a few more sides for Chancellor but only one, "Someday (You'll Want Me To Want You)," would make it to the charts. 1959 saw 3 releases on the Thor label followed by 2 releases on Paris in 1960 and finally ending her recording career on ABC-Paramount in 1962-63 with 3 releases. Jodie Sands retired from the music business all together not long after she stopped recording. In the 70s, she was a guest on local disc-jockey, Ron Joseph's television show for an episode saluting the early years of Bandstand and Bob Horn. Jodie Sands passed away in a few years ago.
