Charted at #7 in Billboard in June 1950. Carr had two other top 20 Billboard hits; "Down Yonder" in 1951 and "Portuguese Washerwoman" in 1956. "Sam's Song" was also #3 for Bing Crosby and Gary Crosby in July 1950 and #94 for Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. in December 1962. Written by Jack Elliott and Lew Quadling. The other side of this record is "Ivory Rag".
