Description
Track 8 from their fourth studio album “Infinity” released in 1978 copyright Columbia Records. It was recorded at His Masters Wheels in San Francisco and Cherokee Studios in Los Angeles. It was their first album with lead vocalist Steve Perry and the last with original drummer Aynsley Dunbar. Producer Roy Thomas Baker was instrumental in forging Journey’s sound with multi-tracked harmonies, similar to what he had already done on the five albums he’d produced for Queen. The song “Patiently” was dedicated to Lynyrd Skynyrd, whose tragic plane crash occurred while they were recording. The album received above average reviews, reaching No. 22 in Canada and No. 21 on the Billboard chart. It achieved Gold status in a few months and was certified 3X Platinum in 1989. Written by Matt Schon, Neal Schon, Robert Fleischman, Gregg Rolie & Steve Perry and produced by Roy Thomas Baker. Featuring:
Steve Perry – Lead vocals
Neal Schon – Lead, rhythm & acoustic guitars & background vocals
Gregg Rolie – Keyboards & background vocals, co-lead vocals on “Feeling That Way” & “Anytime”
Ross Valory – Bass & background vocals
Aynsley Dunbar – Drums & percussion
I covered you with roses like the starlight
I covered you with love like a blanket on a cold winter's night
I covered you with joy to make your lifetime big and bright
You touched me with your eyes soft as an evenin' breeze
You held me in your arms as the wind rushed through the trees
You are my child, you make my lifetime big and bright
You are my child, you came like the winds of March
With all the love in your eyes
You are my child, you came like the mornin' light
With all your love in your eyes
You are my child, you came like the mornin' light
With all your love in your eyes
