It is said that this song was written in England by Paul Simon, who was disappointed that Simon & Garfunkel's first album hardly sold.
He gave this song to his girlfriend at the time, Kathy, and it was later re-recorded for S&G's second album.
It is a very sad and beautiful song, sung calmly as if pouring out complicated feelings.
The guitar playing technique, which is like a model of three-finger playing, is very simple, but it is surprisingly difficult to keep the rhythm.
The solo guitar part at the end was particularly difficult because the bass notes have an irregular rhythm.
It shows that Paul was already an excellent guitarist at a young age.
