Hello everyone! This is the song " Leaving On A Jet Plane” by “John Denver" covered by “Reneé Dominique”. This is a desolated country song which seems to be composed by only vocals and guitar. It is composed in a V1-C1-V2-C2-V3-C3-OUTRO manner which gives the song a feeling of integrity.
The song Begins with the artist singing about his feelings of nostalgia and reminiscence to his lover. John Denver said that it is "Not so much from feeling that way for someone, but from the longing of having someone to love". Indeed, he later claimed that the song was very personal and special for him and he later admitted on one of his BBC radio specials “It doesn't conjure up Boeing 707s or 747s for me as much as it does the simple scenes of leaving. Bags packed and standing by the front door, taxi pulling up in the early morning hours, the sound of a door closing behind you, and the thought of leaving someone that you care for very much. I was fortunate to have Peter, Paul and Mary record it and have it become a hit, but it still strikes a lonely and anguished chord in me, because the separation still continues, although not so long and not so often nowadays.”
Also, I really love the vocals by Reneé Dominique on her cover as they are so graceful and elegant which I am astonished by as she didn’t use any sound design or auto-tune to enhance them (the vocals are perfect although they are natural). Moreover, I really like this song due to it’s intrinsic meaning and it certainly evokes a sense of nostalgia within me and probably within other people, I would really like to compose a song similar to this one in the future. In the end, I find this song to be nostalgic so I would recommend anyone to listen to this song if you are trying to relax, sleep, chill, meditate or just study.
