Li Yugang also participated in the "Everlasting Classics" show. Can you believe that the woman on the stage is also Li Yugang? Both of them are him!
If you are interested, I would like to introduce the story of this woman. She is also one of the 4 most beautiful women in ancient China, her name is Wang Zhaojun (about 54 BC-19 BC).
This poem was written by Du Fu(712 AD-770 AD), the 2nd greatest poet of the Tang Dynasty, he wrote this poem to express Wang Zhaojun's sadness and grievance.
In 33 BC, the leader of the South Huns came to Chang'an to visit the emperor of China ( Han Dynasty, the South Huns were a vassal state of China at that time) and said that he wanted to be China's son-in-law. Yes, this was a political marriage.
So the emperor ordered from the woman in the palace choose a woman married to the leader of the South Huns. The emperor chose Wang Zhaojun based on portraits of court ladies painted by painter Mao Yanshou. Before leaving for the South Huns, the emperor summoned Wang Zhaojun. He was surprised that she was so beautiful and that she was different from the portrait, he regretted choosing her very much, but the emperor's orders couldn't be changed at will, even himself, so she was still married to the leader of South Huns. Later, the emperor ordered an investigation of the painter, and found that many court women had bribed the painter with money to make the painter paint them more beautifully. But Wang Zhaojun didn't bribe him, so the painter deliberately painted her not as beautiful as herself, so the emperor never knew there was such a beautiful woman in the palace. The emperor ordered Mao Yanshou's house to be raided and a lot of money was found in his house. So Mao Yanshou was executed. After 3 years of marriage, Wang Zhaojun's husband died. According to the Huns custom, when the father is dead, the son will marry his father's wife, and when the older brother dead, his younger brother will marry his wife. Wang Zhaojun didn't want to, so she applied to the emperor to return to China, but the emperor ordered her to follow the Hun customs, but the emperor ordered her to follow the Hun customs, so she had to marry her husband's eldest son. 11 years later, her 2nd husband also died. She had to marry another man. 2 years later, she died of illness.
The poet wrote about Wang Zhaojun in order to express that his official career was not smooth: Did anyone deceive the emperor like that painter, so that talented and excellent officials could not be reused? By the way, his emperor is the emperor in the song " Drunken Concubine".
