Lucky Southern Bass Line Backing Track

Description

Here is a bass line for the chord progression based on the Jazz/Samba tune “Lucky Southern,” in the key of D. Since it is a Samba, like I have done with the Bossa Nova tunes, I decided to record it with a shaker/loop.


Keyboard players and guitarists, don’t forget to study Brazilian comping concepts and patterns; they are very distinctive and crucial. I did my best to play a bass line using various elements of the Samba tradition, mixed with Jazz and Fusion influences.


There are a lot of wonderful changes of color and tonality in this tune, and in places is reminiscent of Ellington/Strayhorn.
