Aside for the national flag, one of the symbols of a country's independence and identity is it's own national anthem. For the Philippines, this national anthem is entitled "Lupang Hinirang".

Composed by Julian Felipe in 1898, this hymn became the Philippine's identity to the world until today, born out of a revolution seeking to set the nation free from 333 years of Spanish rule.

The lyrics of the national anthem is from a poem written by Jose Palma entitled "Filipinas" in 1899. Since then, the lyrics saw some changes; from English during the American Occupation to Filipino or Tagalog and eventually finalized in it's present form in 1956 with slight revision in the 1960s.

Back then and until now, radio and televisions in the Philippines plays the National Anthem during their signing on and off as required by law, and numerous renditions of this anthem surfaced back and now. However, one video of the anthem stands out having a dignified air and retelling the story of the Philippine Revolution and the fight for freedom from colonial rule.

To anticipate the Philippine's 100th Anniversary of Independence back in 1998, the Bank of the Philippine Islands commissioned/ produced a music video of the Philippine National Anthem to be used by radio and television stations in 1994.

This music video contains sequence of scenes showing the images of the heroes of the Philippine Revolution as well as scenes surrounding the events of the revolution from the execution of the "Gomburza", the martyrdom of Dr. Jose Rizal, to the Proclamation of Philippine independence in 1898. Most scenes are taken from Raymond Red's "Bayani" film.

This music of the National Anthem is sung by the U.P. Madrigal Singers and accompanied by the Philippine National Police Band.

To mark the 30th anniversary of it's conception and airing, I made a "rehashed" version of this memorable music video of the Philippine National Anthem.

To make this rehashed version possible, I used a clear version of original music video that is available online from the collection of "View on the 3rd - Jojo Bailon" on Facebook.

Then I create and applied a clear audio of the National Anthem in the video by remixing together a acapella version sung by the U.P. Madrigal Singers (the same chorus who sang in the original music video) which is also available online thanks to "Philippine Music on Parade" YouTube channel, and an instrumental version of the National Anthem played by the United States Navy Band which can be easily found in Wikipedia, since this version they made have the same tempo and arrangement that the PNP band used in the original music video of the anthem.

May this rehashed version of the famous Philippine National Anthem music video rekindles the patriotism and love of country to each Filipino people especially today.
