Description

English novelist Vita Sackville-West’s marriage to Sir Harold Nicolson was the very definition of an open one, with both partners happily enjoying same-sex, extramarital relationships for much of the 49 years they spent together. In January of 1926, Vita reluctantly departed London for Persia, where she was to stay for four long months. As she travelled by train, she wrote a longing letter to the lover she had left behind: Virginia Woolf.

Marisa Abela joined us at KOKO Camden to read it at a special fundraising edition of Letters Live in support of the KOKO Foundation, a registered charity dedicated to changing lives and creating transformative opportunities.
