Me and the legend @petesonearth took a life changing ride through bumpy dirt roads, across rivers, through deep jungles, and up the winding mountains of Papua New Guinea to document shamanic ceremonies of the region. After hours and hours of bouncing around, we landed in the tribal community of Angapena - a place inhabited by a remote tribe of warriors called Anga.

At first, they were fully hesitant about having us hang around or letting us stay overnight. This is the most remote corner of civilization and visitors aren’t common. They openly joked about killing and hurting us - shooting arrows inches from our feet while the entire village pointed and laughed!

Thankfully, our charm and money eventually lead us all to becoming friends. We stayed the night in one of their huts before continuing our journey.

The highlight of our visit was seeing their spiritual practices and beliefs - which are on full display on the form of brutal mummies - or important tribe members—chiefs, elders, warriors, etc. We trekked an hour up an uncertain muddy, rough, and spooky fogged mountain that eventually lead to this shrine of dead bodies. We were questioning if we were safe the full time, and we were 🙏

** We were in Papua New Guinea doing charity work with @thecommunitygardenonline - our job was to deliver basic medicine and document their plant use, ceremonial practices, and over collect data on cultural activities in an effort for tradition preservation. We only scratched the surface and I pray to have the opportunity to continue this work in the future.
