Description

The ecosystem supporting the growth of the Coral Highlands is the fertilizing Rotten Vale.

A decomposing ground by nature, with toxic fumes originating from the stack of bone piles from rotting corpses. Such poisonous vapour is noxious to fellow hunters and invokes aggressive compulsion into docile monsters unfortunate enough to inhale the effluvium.

However, the decomposing bodies prove to contain sufficient nutrients to be able to uphold the highlands - as well as another thriving ecosystem with its own unique subset of species.

The depths of the Rotten Vale holds the key in unraveling the mysteries of the Elder Crossing.




Certain places in the vale will only be available once 'Into the Bowels of the Vale' is completed.
These locations are where you'll find the Plunderers and Goldenfish for the Piscine Researcher's bounty.

Ensure that you've brought Raw Meat for the Plunderer Subquest.
Sadly, I missed the part where the Odogaron carried a Legiana corpse to Sector 13.
A lone Plunderer will be stationed at Sector 13 along with a Legiana corpse once the Odogaron has placed the corpse there.

Approach it.
Once it flees, chase it down to Sector 15. This should cause it to run off to an inaccessible area. From there, simply place a Raw Meat in the area and hide. Wait till the entire group of Plunderers gather around the Raw Meat that you've placed. Then just head towards them.
