Description
Often, when you write a song while recording a new album, that song not only makes it on the album but can sometimes become one of your favorites that ends up being the opening track on that new album. You are correct in thinking that this song meets all three of those criteria.
I wrote this at our first studio, The Clubhouse. This was the same place we shot the video for "Doing Time" and made so many memories playing punk songs for days.
The song itself is a commentary on the status quo and nature of business as usual in a world ever and constantly changing. Some things never change.
Never stop shining the light on the Darkest Places!

Lyrics:
Maybe it is dangerous,
To invite a stranger into the room with us
But noise is growing louder
But I'm not scared at all
When there's no more money in politics
They'll be tearing down the union brick by brick
There'll be cynics holding clinics
About where we have been
With every self-proclaimed historian
You know I know, You don't want this,
You don't need this
Shining the light on the darkest places
You know and I know we have to face this now
We have to face this now
The days are growing dark
What are we gonna do
The country’s in a panic
When I turn on the tube
So maybe I'll just wake up in the afternoon
You can change the channel on your T.V
Push all the little buttons
Till your fingers bleed
But you won't change me
There's nothing I would do for you,
Cause you don't wanna see
You know I know, you don't want this,
You can't dismiss
Shining the light on the darkest places
You know and I know we have to face this now
We have to face this now
Shining the light on the darkest places
Putting the word out we have to face this now
We have to face this now
A generation, taking numbers, making calls
As shadows move across my bedroom wall
Shining the light on the darkest places
You know and I know we have to face this now
We have to face this now
Shining the light on the darkest places
Putting the word out we have to face this now
We have to face this now
