This piece puts my sentiments towards this month and this time to turmoil to word and music. This Black History Month comes in a time where Black history has been put on display each day and to me underscores the importance of uplifting Black voices each day of the year. We have known worry and trouble for too long, amidst this trauma, one thing that has centred me is the faith I have that my Lord will show me light beyond measure at the end of the troubling times.
When all that’s left is darkness
Whether that be the dark of night or the dark that rises in the form of inequity and injustice
The morning comes
That morning is the light of the Lord
And the worry will be over
And the sound that rings clear will be the band of God.
