Description
October 16th, 1992 | New York City, NY | Madison Square Garden.
Nanci Griffith and Carolyn Hester playing a marvelous version of a classic Bob Dylan song during the 30th anniversary tribute concert to Bob Dylan. Two very talented musicians giving a wonderful performance. It is a significative performance, as the first studio session where Bob took place was a recording session of the self-titled Columbia Carolyn Hester album from 1962, where he played the harmonica in the songs "I'll Fly Way" and "Come Back, Baby". This performance was part of the concert's opening act.
Commercially underrated, Carolyn Hester may not have achieved the fame that several of her Greenwich Village friends would later have, such as Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Dave Van Ronk, Phil Ochs, Tom Paxton, etc., but her music is still brilliant and beutiful and she influenced then-future female folks singers like Joni Mitchell and the same Nanci Griffith that we see here singing.
