From upon her golden seat Gunnlöð gave me
a drink of the venerable mead; it was but poor reward that I gave her in return;
her devotion gained her little but anguish.

When Gunlaþu received Wōdan, she offered him the drink of the holy mead, the drink of wisdom and poetry. The golden liquid flowed over his song-cliffs and sparked a cosmic magic that lingers in every fiber of existence. There is no existence without sexual desire. There is no existence without intercourse. Sex is pleasure. Our ancestors recognized this without shame. However, the price of birth is often high.
