This is my video of (actually called) "Didn't Leave Nobody But The Baby," a song from the original movie soundtrack of 'O Brother, Where Art Though?' Complete with lyrics. This is a very controversial song, people tend to read very deeply into it. I believe the song makes a lot of sense as the "Sirens" sing it to the men in the movie, it is sung in a seductive manor. This old Southern baby lullaby dates much further back than the movie, it was re-writeen, sung and recorded by Emmylou Harris, Gillian Welch and Alison Krauss.
I envision this song as being sung to a baby by a care giver who is sadly expressing to the child that their mother has run off to find a new love and has left the child with the father. The care-giver is assuring the child that they will be taken care of and it is time to go to sleep.
Unlike many of the comments I have read about this song on You Tube I do not at all believe that this song is intended to be negative in any way.
Thank you for watching!
