Description
It's been exactly 1 year since I started uploading content to Youtube, so this is my gift, to you.
Where do you even start?
Oasis' two-night bonanza at Earl's Court was at the time the largest indoor concert held in Europe, at 20,000, the max capacity for each night. Tickets were sold old almost instantly. Just 5 days previous to the concert, the single Wonderwall, was released on the 30th of October, 1995. The single would be the spark that propelled Oasis into the stratosphere. With the catchy melody of the A-side, as well as the iconic b-sides such as Round Are Way, The Swamp Song, and The Masterplan. The former two are being played tonight.
Opening for Oasis that night were the Bootleg Beatles, who would join Oasis on stage on the 5th of November for I Am The Walrus.
With all the hype surrounding the shows, did Oasis pull it off? Yeah, they pulled it off. So well in fact that it's arguably their best performance of their illustrious 19 years as a band. Arguably better than Maine Road, Loch Lomond, and even Knebworth.
With that being said, some of the songs are better quality than others, as I've mixed in the audio from multiple sources. God bless Merlin for letting me keep Acquiesce, directly from the (What's The Story) Morning Glory? 2014 remaster. Other songs are ripped from the ...There And Then compilation that features performances from the first and second night of Earls Court as well as the second night at Maine Road. The Wonderwall performance is also from ...There And Then, but from the promo disc. The rest of the songs have been worked on by myself to my best ability.
You can see why people regard this night so highly immediately with Acquiesce, Supersonic, and Hello, which are on many lists of the top performances of those songs. The echoes from the arena help Liam, creating this angelic effect during the second verse of Acquiesce and the second chorus of Supersonic.
The energy radiating from the crowd can be felt throughout London. It was reported that seismic shocks were felt during Some Might Say.
For the first time since December of 1994, an orchestra joins Oasis for a good chunk of the songs. Round Are Way being one, and a very special version of Don't Look Back In Anger.
Live Forever is still in the middle of the set, and won't be moved to the end until February of 1996. Then we get to Champagne Supernova... My god will this give you goosebumps... One of the best performances of that song along with Cardiff 1996 and Birmingham 1997. The solo is just breathtaking. One of the best songs, if not, the best song Oasis ever released.
We then get an excellent acoustic performance of Wonderwall, Cast No Shadow, even with hiccups, and Morning Glory, which again, will be played acoustic till February 1996. Because Live Forever is moved to the middle, Whatever will take its place before the final song of the night, I Am The Walrus is performed.
All in all, Liam gives it his all and is considered to be one of his best vocal performances ever, Noel is on the top of his game, and even Guigsy is back for the ride.
The second night, while mega, is not as popular as the first night, which is shocking, but that just shows you how amazing this performance is. It completely outshines its counterpart.
Enjoy, because I sure did.
