I singed the Old Rugged Cross for my grandmothers funeral. It was one of her favorites. It has always had sentimental value for me, but that's not the only reason I love the song. Ultimately, the cross was something people would look upon with horror, but because of Jesus it is the symbol of salvation, triumph, and love. May i never sing about or dwell on the cross without genuine awe and gratitude.
