Clinton "Dusty" Fletcher was an African-American vaudeville performer. He created the "Open The Door Richard" routine. It was Jack McVea who put the routine to music and recorded it. It became a huge hit in the late 1940s and was covered by many different bands. Dusty Fletcher even released his own two sided disc of it.
