Open to me the gates of repentance, O Giver of Life, for early in the morning my spirit hastens to Your holy temple, bringing the temple of my body all defiled. But as one compassionate, cleanse me, I pray, by Your loving-kindness and mercy.

I am a little bit late in uploading this hymn of the Triodion period before Great Lent begins. It is my favorite hymn to sing in the Matins service during the whole year. Often times the English translations of the prayers fall short, but this one is so beautiful and fits the meter of the music very appropriately.
