Welcome to my Back Porch! It’s a series of performance videos of songs I like to sing, mostly classics from the 1960s to 80s, and a few originals. I release one each Wednesday and Saturday.

My Scottish buddy does a great version of this old tune, and I couldn’t resist stealing it from him. A lovely haunting melody. I also like the reminder that America is a nation of immigrants and their descendants. Too many people are neglecting to remember that, these days.

Calling it a traditional Irish song seems apt enough, though the songwriter is not anonymous – so it can’t be called a folk song, in the strict sense. Originally in the Irish language.
