My response to musician, composer and producer Paul Hardcastle’s single “Turn down the Heat”? As long as he keeps bringing the “heat”…it’s hard to turn it down! Because turning up the heat is what Paul has exactly been doing through his music and the music in Hardcastle 8 is no exception. This much-anticipated album was officially released on September 28, 2018 and has Paul’s signature style written all over it. This feature track, Turn down the Heat is delicious and has the sensuality I look for in Paul’s music with Rock Hendricks sexy saxophone-playing complimenting it so beautifully. The album also has the smooth grooves of “Amber Sky”, which will no doubt knock on the door of the smoothjazz charts, and “Astral Vision”. Of course you can’t be into Paul Hardcastle’s music unless you’re wanting to go into the chill zone, and you’ll get there on the sounds of “Breaking the Ice”, as well as, Paul’s serene cover tribute on the classic 70s tune “A Horse with No Name” and also “Stay in the Moment”, both which features the soft sultry vocals of Paul’s daughter Maxine. If you’re a “boogie person”, Paul’s got you covered with his rhythmic dance beats on “Hardcastle Boogie” and “Jam on This”, which features sax accompaniment by his son, Paul Hardcastle Jr.
