'Lady And The Tramp' was a major hit for Disney in 1955 out doing all of their previous films apart from 'Snow White' at the box office.
It's success was very much helped by Peggy Lee, she helped write the songs, singing 3 herself she also voiced Darling, Lady's owner, both of the Siamese cats and Peg from the dog pound. She was paid a total of $4,500 for her efforts.
Peggy kept the publishing rights so when Disney released the film on vhs in 1987 making $90m and offering her a nominal fee she took out a lawsuit against them, in poor health she gave evidence from a wheel chair. In 1991 after a long battle the court found in her favour and awarded her $2.3m . Peggy died in 2002 aged 81.
