The Warsaw Pact, formally known as the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance, was a collective defence treaty signed in Warsaw, Poland between the Soviet Union and seven Eastern Bloc satellite states of Central and Eastern Europe in May 1955, during the Cold War. The Warsaw Pact was the military complement to the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance (CoMEcon), the regional economic organization for the socialist states of Central and Eastern Europe. The Warsaw Pact was created in reaction to the integration of West Germany into NATO in 1955 per the London and Paris Conferences of 1954, but it is also considered to have been motivated by Soviet desires to maintain control over military forces in Central and Eastern Europe.

Pakta Warsawa, yang secara resmi dikenal sebagai Perjanjian Persahabatan, Kerjasama, dan Saling Bantuan, adalah perjanjian pertahanan kolektif yang ditandatangani di Warsawa, Polandia antara Uni Soviet dan tujuh negara satelit Blok Timur di Eropa Tengah dan Timur pada Mei 1955, selama Perang Dingin . Pakta Warsawa adalah pelengkap militer untuk Council for Mutual Economic Assistance (CoMEcon), organisasi ekonomi regional untuk negara-negara sosialis di Eropa Tengah dan Timur. Pakta Warsawa dibuat sebagai reaksi terhadap integrasi Jerman Barat ke dalam NATO pada tahun 1955 per London dan Konferensi Paris tahun 1954, tetapi juga dianggap termotivasi oleh keinginan Soviet untuk mempertahankan kendali atas pasukan militer di Eropa Tengah dan Timur.
