This video features my solo classical guitar transcription and performance of Petit chanson (Little Song), No. 3 from Robert Schumann’s Album für die Jugend (Album for the Young), Op. 68.Originally written for piano in 1848, Schumann’s Album für die Jugend is a beloved collection of short, expressive character pieces designed to introduce young musicians to the emotional depth and lyricism of Romantic music.
Petit chanson is a gentle, lyrical miniature — simple in form, yet rich in expression — perfectly suited to the intimacy of the guitar.

In this transcription the piece was transposed from G to E major, this allowed more freedom with added resonance from the open B string. I aimed to capture the original’s warmth and lyrical phrasing, while adapting its textures naturally to the guitar’s voice.
