Description
Couldn't find it on YouTube, so here it is: The original studio recording of Johnny Cash and Mother Maybelle Carter of the Joe Allen tune 'Pick the Wildwood Flower' .
This early 70's recording has always been one of my Cash-favourites, still wonder why didn't upload it any sooner than today. Sorry 'bout that! It's a great tune written by the great songwriter and bassplayer Joe Allen. As you all might know Cash and Allen wrote 'Fairweather Friends' for the album 'The Adventures of Johnny Cash' (1982 Columbia Records). Joe Allen was also present as bassplayer on a number of Cash-albums throughout the years. He also was part of the LIVE-band Cash took on the road to tour. More info on the Cash-touring entourage can be found on:

While surfing the net, i found a (appearing to be complete) list of songs Joe Allen wrote, on what album they were sung by what (mostly famous) artists and on which albums recorded by what artists he played bass (various Don Williams-albums and Bobby Bare's 'Hard time hungry's ' ... amongst onthers). To go see for yourself ( i must say, i found it very very interesting !!) on the following page/link:

The bass is the base of music and Joe Allen sure plays it from the heart!
Enjoy!
Love, peace and hope to all of you!
