I'm a huge Steven Wilson fan, and his former band, Porcupine Tree, is one of my favourite bands ever. They've been a huge influence on me and my own music for quite a while, so it seemed pretty obvious to me that I should do a cover of one of their songs. "Shallow" is a blast to play, and it definitely won't be the last Porcupine Tree cover you see on this channel.

As the title suggests, this cover also doubles as a bit of a recording experiment. I tried recording the distorted guitars in three different ways:
(00:00-00:50) was recorded using Pod Farm 2 from Line 6
(01:11-01:55) is the DI signal from my Boss ME-70 effects unit
(02:18-04:20) is the DI signal from my Taurus Stomphead

I've done a little bit of post-EQ, but it was the same for all the tones, so the differences should be distinguishable. Which tone do you prefer?
